We are glad to welcome you at the page of the joint project of the Imperial Porcelain Factory and the Church of the Holy Spirit.
The production and painting of porcelain icons is carried out at the Imperial Porcelain Factory (IPF), the first porcelain factory in Russia. The technologies for the production of classic porcelain, developed in the mid-18th century by Vinogradov D.I., are preserved here. The historical Church of the Holy Spirit was built in the Russian style according to the project of the academician of architecture Krasovsky A.F., whose childhood and youth were inextricably linked with the Imperial Porcelain Factory.
Our mission is the revival of the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in its historical place. The church was located on the grounds of Spaso-Preobrazhensky cemetery, one of the oldest cemeteries in St. Petersburg. It was blown up in 1966 during the construction of the Lomonosovskaya metro station.
In 2015, a temporary wooden church dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord was erected and consecrated in Lomonosov Square, on the grounds of the former cemetery. Regular services began in the church; and a parish church life started to improve. At the same time, the construction of the main church began.
The iconostasis is one of the main items of an Orthodox church decoration. Structurally, it is a partition between the altar and the main part of the temple premises, covered with icons.
As a significant object in the architecture of the temple, the iconostasis, as a rule, is magnificently adorned. Its main purpose is to facilitate the prayer of believers during worship.
The church housed a porcelain iconostasis made by the sculptor A.K. Timus. The centuries-old experience of the Imperial Porcelain Factory specialists is used in the manufacture of the porcelain iconostasis for the reconstructed Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit. The first floor-standing icon case has already been made. For the first time in the world, such a product is made of hard-paste porcelain! Our iconostasis will be solemn and festive – snow-white porcelain with golden layers combined with deep blue color.
The Imperial Porcelain Factory has completed the manufacturing of a prototype of the first floor-standing icon case for our church under construction.
A bit more about us and why you need to cooperate with us
All donations received from the sales of porcelain icons go to charity, that is, the construction of the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit behind Nevskaya Zastava in St. Petersburg. The creation of the main decoration of the temple plays an important part in the construction of a unique porcelain iconostasis. Like many years ago, it will be made by the craftsmen of the Imperial Porcelain Factory.
We still have a lot of work to do. We believe that with the help of God we will revive the Temple of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in its historical place behind Nevskaya Zastava!
